In response to the emergence of India’s first confirmed case of the Clade 1b strain of Mpox, the Kerala government is set to introduce revised guidelines aimed at preventing and managing the disease. Health Minister Veena George announced this decision following a meeting of the State Level Rapid Response Team to assess the current health situation.
The state has already established isolation facilities in all districts and strengthened monitoring at airports to manage potential cases. Currently, testing capabilities are available in five laboratories, with plans to expand this if necessary. The minister emphasized the importance of travelers reporting any symptoms to health authorities to ensure prompt treatment.
Symptoms of Mpox include fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, and affected individuals typically recover within two to four weeks. The World Health Organization recently declared Mpox a public health emergency, highlighting the need for vigilance as the situation develops.

मंपीक्स के लक्षणों में बुखार, दाने और सूजी हुई लिम्फ नोड्स शामिल हैं, और प्रभावित व्यक्तियों को सामान्यतः दो से चार सप्ताह में ठीक हो जाता है। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) ने हाल ही में मंपीक्स को एक सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल घोषित किया है, जिससे यह स्पष्ट होता है कि स्थिति विकसित होने के साथ सतर्कता बनाए रखना आवश्यक है।
