Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts is set to bring a new team of anti-heroes and villains to the big screen in May 2025. Originally scheduled for a July 2024 release, the film was delayed due to production halts caused by the Hollywood strikes. Directed by Jake Schreier, the movie will showcase a group of misfits performing government missions, often drawing comparisons to DC’s Suicide Squad.
The ensemble cast includes familiar MCU characters like Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell). Julia Louis-Dreyfus will return as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who appears to be assembling this team.
Thunderbolts is part of Marvel’s Phase Five and is expected to delve into the darker, morally complex side of the MCU, providing a fresh take on superhero teams.
