The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent remarks about B.R. Ambedkar. Shah claimed that Ambedkar opposed the inclusion of the term “socialist” in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, a statement the TMC has called misleading.
TMC spokesperson Derek O’Brien accused Shah of distorting historical facts for political gains. He asserted that Ambedkar’s ideology was inherently inclusive, and misrepresenting his views is an insult to his legacy.
This controversy comes amid ongoing debates over the interpretation of the Constitution and the legacy of its framers. The TMC strongly condemned any manipulation of historical narratives and made it clear that tampering with historical truths would not be tolerated.
The party also urged other political leaders to address such sensitive issues with honesty and respect for historical accuracy.

तृणमूल कांग्रेस (टीएमसी) ने केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह पर बी.आर. अंबेडकर को लेकर दिए गए उनके हालिया बयान के लिए निशाना साधा है। शाह ने कहा था कि अंबेडकर ने संविधान की प्रस्तावना में “समाजवादी” शब्द शामिल करने का विरोध किया था, जिसे टीएमसी ने गलत बताया है।
टीएमसी प्रवक्ता डेरेक ओ’ब्रायन ने शाह पर इतिहास को तोड़-मरोड़कर पेश करने और इसे राजनीतिक लाभ के लिए इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने कहा कि अंबेडकर की सोच हमेशा समावेशी रही है और उनके विचारों को गलत तरीके से पेश करना उनकी विरासत का अपमान है।
यह विवाद ऐसे समय में सामने आया है जब संविधान की व्याख्या और इसके निर्माताओं की विरासत को लेकर बहस जारी है। टीएमसी ने स्पष्ट किया कि ऐतिहासिक तथ्यों के साथ छेड़छाड़ को बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जाएगा।
टीएमसी ने अन्य राजनीतिक नेताओं से अपील की है कि वे इस तरह के मुद्दों को ईमानदारी और ऐतिहासिक सच्चाई के साथ पेश करें।
