In a recent tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, terrorists shot dead a young man from Bihar, Raja Shah. He had migrated to Kashmir for work, and it is believed that militants targeted him, suspecting him of being a spy. This killing is part of a disturbing trend of attacks on non-locals, especially laborers from Bihar, in the region. In the past 10 months alone, seven Bihari workers have been murdered in similar attacks.
The rising incidents of such killings have sparked outrage, with leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mehbooba Mufti condemning the violence, emphasizing the need for peace. The local population remains in fear, and many migrant workers are considering leaving the area for safety.
