Sri Lankan cricketer Kamindu Mendis has made history by becoming the fastest Asian to score 1,000 Test runs, achieving the milestone in just 13 innings. This makes him the joint-second fastest in the world, alongside legendary Australian cricketer Don Bradman. Mendis reached this incredible feat during the second Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Galle.
Mendis has been in remarkable form, notching up 182 runs in this match, which helped his team to a commanding total. His consistency is evident as he also set a record for scoring eight consecutive fifties since his debut, surpassing the achievements of greats like Sunil Gavaskar. With this accomplishment, he has placed himself in the elite ranks of Test cricket, becoming the quickest to achieve 1,000 Test runs since 1949.
