India has strongly criticized Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for his comments regarding the treatment of minorities in the country. Khamenei expressed concern over the plight of Muslims in India, Myanmar, and Gaza, calling on Muslims worldwide to be aware of their struggles. India responded sharply, advising countries making such observations to focus on their own human rights records before commenting on others.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs labeled Khamenei’s statements as “misinformed” and “unacceptable,” defending the country’s commitment to its diverse communities. The Indian government emphasized that these comments ignore Iran’s own track record on minority rights and the ongoing repression within Iran.
