Govardhan Puja, celebrated on the day after Diwali, falls this year on November 2, 2024. The auspicious timing (shubh muhurat) for the puja is from 6:30 PM to 8:45 PM on that evening, an ideal period to honor Lord Krishna and the symbolic Govardhan Hill.
The traditional ritual begins with an early morning bath, followed by creating a small Govardhan hill representation using cow dung and adorning it with flowers and colors. Devotees then worship the hill and Lord Krishna, offering items such as water, incense, fruits, and sweets. A special dish called “Annakoot” is often prepared with mixed vegetables and grains as an offering. Additionally, people circle the hill idol seven times while reciting prayers for prosperity and protection, remembering Lord Krishna’s miraculous act of lifting Govardhan Hill to shield his devotees from a storm brought by Indra, the rain god.

गोवर्धन पूजा इस साल 2 नवंबर 2024 को मनाई जाएगी, जो दीवाली के अगले दिन आती है। पूजा का शुभ मुहूर्त शाम 6:30 बजे से 8:45 बजे तक है। इस समय में गोवर्धन पर्वत और भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की पूजा करके आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करना शुभ माना जाता है।
सुबह स्नान के बाद गाय के गोबर से गोवर्धन पर्वत का प्रतीक बनाकर उसे फूलों और रंगों से सजाएं। फिर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की मूर्ति के साथ गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूजा करें और जल, धूप, फल और मिठाई चढ़ाएं। इसके बाद “अन्नकूट” का भोग लगाएं, जो मिश्रित सब्जियों और अनाज से बना होता है। इस दिन गोवर्धन पर्वत की सात परिक्रमा करना भी महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है, जिससे सुख-समृद्धि और रक्षा की प्रार्थना की जाती है।
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण द्वारा इंद्र देव के घमंड को तोड़ने के लिए गोवर्धन पर्वत उठाने की कथा इस पूजा का आधार है, जो भक्तों की रक्षा के लिए भगवान का प्रेम दर्शाती है।
