On October 2, 2024, a significant solar eclipse will occur, lasting for 6 hours and 4 minutes. This will be the year’s second solar eclipse and will be an annular one, meaning the moon will appear slightly smaller and won’t completely cover the sun. Instead, it will create a “ring of fire” effect.
The eclipse will begin at 9:13 PM IST and end at 3:17 AM on October 3. Unfortunately, it won’t be visible in India, and therefore, traditional rituals like “Sutak” will not be observed. However, parts of South America and the Pacific will have clear views.
After the eclipse, people generally perform cleansing activities and prayers, such as taking a bath, donating food, or meditating.
