Chhath Puja, a revered four-day festival primarily celebrated in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, will begin on November 5 this year. The first day, known as “Nahay-Khay,” involves devotees bathing and consuming a simple, pure meal, typically made with chana dal and bottle gourd curry.
On the second day, called “Kharna,” devotees observe a day-long fast, breaking it in the evening with offerings of jaggery kheer and roti to the deity. The third day is marked by “Sandhya Arghya,” where devotees offer prayers to the setting sun. The final day, “Usha Arghya,” involves offering water to the rising sun, concluding the fast and the festival’s rituals.
